Mike TeSelle started at KCRA 3 in 1998 as a general assignment reporter. These days, in addition to reporting, TeSelle anchors weekend morning newscasts, which start at 7 a.m. The recipient of an Edward R. Murrow regional award, a National Press Photographers Association award and an Emmy, TeSelle has a fan base that looks out for him. While TeSelle was out reporting on this past January’s fierce rain and windstorm, the station received numerous calls from viewers concerned for his safety. He even received a couple on his cell phone. “The wind was whipping the rain horizontal—so much so, that by the sixth hour, all six layers I was wearing, including my trusted storm jacket, were soaked! The wind chill was such that as soon as I stepped in front of the camera, I was shivering,” recalls TeSelle, who calls it the “wettest and windiest news day of my entire career.”
