With the aid of traffic cams, maps and live feeds from CHP officers, Tina Macuha deftly directs viewers around accidents, road construction and other traffic hiccups weekday mornings on CW 31’s “Good Day Sacramento.” The Sacramento native has been with the show since its debut in 1995 (then called “The Morning Show”), and prior to that had a four-year stint at KSFM 102.5 FM—then called FM 102—where she worked alongside fellow “Good Day Sacramento” personality Mark S. Allen for a time. But there’s more to this Sacramento broadcaster than the Mega Map. Macuha reports and anchors as well as challenges her “GDS” cast mates with Teen’s Tunes (a sort of “Name That Tune,” where Macuha plays a song and her cast mates chime in with the answer) and Question of the Day, where her cast mates answer one of her often-topical question. Another popular “Macuhaism” is Thought of the Day, sage pieces of advice that appear on a sign behind her traffic station and on the ticker running along the bottom of the screen. Macuha is in the process of writing a book based on some of the 3,000 or so thoughts she’s complied throughout the years.
