GREATEST PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT: Making it through my first year of medical school—without a doubt the most challenging time of my life. I did not get a lot of sleep that year. PRACTICE INNOVATIONS: Sacramento Heart opened up our Ambulatory Surgery Center, allowing us to implant pacemakers and defibrillators as well as perform angiography, angioplasty and stenting in a true outpatient setting. Our patients have found this to be a convenient alternative to the conventional hospital experience. OFF HOURS: I enjoy outdoor activities to include skiing, hiking, biking, swimming, running and paddle boarding. To stay motivated to exercise I try to always have an event to train for. I have swam across Donner Lake, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate. I have climbed Mt’s Shasta, St. Helens and Rainier. ADVICE: “Use it or lose it” is my favorite advice to patients. Getting off the couch and being active is the best way to stay out of my office.
