Mansour Yaghoubian, a third-generation rare-rug expert, opened his first rug gallery in 1979 in Old Sac and added a second Sacramento location in 1988 before closing the first location two years later. He opened the Roseville location six years ago. With more than 4,000 high-quality, traditional-style rugs ranging in price from $150 to $250,000, Mansour’s carries antique and new rugs, large and small, each one hand-knotted by an individual weaver. Made primarily of live wool (sheared from live sheep) and silk that’s been knotted into a cotton foundation, the rugs are colored with natural and chromium dyes. Most of Mansour’s rugs are designed and created in Iran, Pakistan, China, Turkey; others are from Afghanistan, Tibet and Nepal.
