In a year that seems to have lasted for eons, the holiday season is suddenly upon us. For many of us, traditions are being set aside as we take precautions to guard against the threats brought on by a global pandemic. That said, there are a few customs that we can still rely on to shine a little light in the darkness and bring us a sense of holiday cheer and welcomed familiarity. This year a number of local wineries are offering the opportunity to celebrate through shopping, eating and drinking at winter markets that showcase local vendors and artisans. You can take a stroll with a glass of wine (lifting your mask long enough to sip) while you support small businesses and find treasures for family and friends. Below are some of the markets taking place around the Sacramento region:
A Christmas Market at Peltier Winery
Saturday, Nov. 21
11 a.m.–8 p.m.
$5 per person, 21+ and older only
The winery will be fully decorated for the season. The event will feature live music, food, wine, goods & gifts from more than 19 local artisans and makers. Winery discounts and specials will be available for attendees.
Sip & Stroll: Shopping Night at the Wackman Barn at McConnell Estates
Friday, Nov. 20
$5 per person
Your $5 ticket acts as a $5 coupon towards any purchase of McConnell Estate wine. Local vendors of clothes, plants, food and more will be on hand to help you shop and check off your holiday gift lists.
Thursday Nights Under the Lights at Casque Wines & Flower Farm Nursery & Cafe
Every Thursday in December
Flower Farm Nursery & Cafe, in collaboration with Le Casque Wines, will host two to three vendors each Thursday. The patio will be covered with tents and heated by firepits to keep you toasty and cozy. Christmas trees will be available for sale, and you can warm up with some hot soup or chili and locally made bread. Wine will be available for purchase by the glass or the bottle.
Holiday Sip & Shop at Matchbook Wine Company
Friday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec. 18
Visitors can sip Merry Mulled Wine while shopping with Yolo and Yuba vendors: Matchbook Wines, Love Handles Gift Baskets (Woodland), Pure Honey (Winters) and Sugar Smash Bakery (Plumas Lake).
