As wine consumers purchase more and more wine directly from producers, wineries have been getting creative in the ways they present products. To catch the attention of current and potential customers, one local winery is breaking through the noise with a unique and innovative subscription service product. Via Romano Vineyards, located in Caminohas just launched Italian Cocktail Club. This past week, I visited the winery to preview their new offering.

Amber Frere, Via Romano’s tasting room manager, explained that each month, club subscribers would receive two bottles of Italian-style Via Romano wine, a hand-crafted mixer from the Mobile Mixologist, freshly picked and dried garnishes, and instructions. Each kit makes eight to 10 cocktails, and costs $64.99 (plus tax and shipping) per month. Subscribers to the club also receive benefits such as loyalty points and discounts on glasses and bottles of wine.

For demonstration, I was treated to these two cocktails:

Italian Wine Cocktail #1: Via Romano Pinot Grigio, Mobile Mixologist lemon lavender mixer, served in a glass with a chili-sugar-salt rim and garnished with dried tarragon and jalapeño slice.

Italian Wine Cocktail #2: Via Romano Primitivo, Mobile Mixologist lemon lavender mixer, served with dried rose petals and apricot.

The lemon lavender mixer was equally lovely in both cocktails, offering a brightness and freshness that was truly appealing. The cocktails were distinct and refreshing, beautiful in presentation and very easy to assemble.

Via Romano will be hosting a party each month to preview the next month’s cocktail selections.  Reservations are required and there will be limited seating. Tickets to this event will include two cocktails and a small bite paired with each. For more information or to make reservations, please visit Via Romano.
