Sacramento News & Review
Never one to shy away from controversy, the Sacramento News & Review can stir up emotions and controversy with the best of them, as can be evidenced by perusing the paper’s weekly letters to the editor section. Perhaps even more than its political vibe (the paper ain’t shy about its left-leaning views), its no-topic-off-limits subjects and its sometimes biting “Bites” column, is the paper’s personals section—specifically the “spicy personals,” which raise eyebrows with some who feel it’s less than appropriate. Admit it, though, you’ve taken a look. Love ’em or hate ’em, SN&R knows their niche and they fill it well.
