This weekend a good friend of mine got married in a stunning outdoor wedding. I was honored to be asked to make the pies for this special event, and I can’t think of a better time of year to embark on such a project. Stone fruit and berry season are now in full swing, so I went a little crazy with the pies. I made strawberry-rhubarb, apricot-blueberry, blackberry-Bing cherry, and nectarine-peach with an oatmeal crumble topping. I also made a walnut tart for nut lovers (from locally-grown walnuts, of course). Making the pies was almost as much fun as attending the wedding!
