Think you’ve got what it takes to be a great winemaker? Producers of a public-television reality show called “The Winemakers” are looking for you.
They’ll hold a casting call on Thursday, July 30, at 58 Degrees & Holding Co. in midtown Sacramento. To be selected for an audition, you need to send an e-mail by Friday, July 24, to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: your full name, date of birth, profession, home address, phone number, e-mail address, a 350- to 500-word essay on why you should be cast, and your preference for morning, afternoon or evening audition.
“The Winemakers” follows the “Top Chef” format: A bunch of talented folks undergo a series of grueling challenges to win the title of “The Winemaker” and the chance to launch their own wine brand. The challenges, devised by winemakers, chefs, sommeliers and restaurateurs, address every aspect of wine making, from viticulture and enology to sales and marketing.
Sixteen semifinalists will be selected for the show’s second season. (The first is set to air this fall.) In addition to Sacramento, auditions will be held in San Francisco and New York. Filming will begin in mid-August on California’s Central Coast before moving to the Rhone Valley in France.
