One of the best reasons to visit midtown’s The Press bistro is its excellent selection of small plates. On hot evenings, it’s especially nice to mix it up and order several appetizer-sized dishes that can be shared with a companion – a fun, lighter alternative to tackling a single entrée. The Press’ grilled calamari is a fabulous summer nibble – served atop potatoes and warm grilled radicchio, it’s an assertive, flavor-packed delight. Other small plates I’ve enjoyed recently at The Press include its signature fried meatballs, served with a tangy garlic-yogurt sauce; and a vibrant, sweet carrot-curry soup.
