Spataro: An Old Fave Revisited

1600

I had dinner at Spataro Restaurant and Bar recently, a beautiful downtown dining spot located close to the Sacramento Community Center and California State Capitol. I’ve had some great meals at Spataro over the years, and this last one was also pretty terrific – from the kitchen’s totally irresistible, super-crusty salt cod fritters to the Sogliole al Limone, a lemony pan-seared Petrale sole scattered with capers, the dishes were boldly-flavored and well-harmonized. The star of the evening was the kitchen’s lusty Garganelli al Salsiccia, fresh pasta tossed in a vivacious San Marzano tomato sauce with crumbled housemade fennel sausage – a fabulous meal choice for a cold, rainy evening.
