This Saturday night, my favorite urban winery—Revolution Wines, on P Street at 21st—will hold a Merlot tasting, followed by a screening of the documentary Merlove.
At 6 p.m., the winery will pour Merlots created by two of its custom crush customers. (Dinner will also be served, but details are still sketchy.) Then, at around 7 p.m., everyone will walk around the corner to the McClatchy corporate theater on Q Street to watch the film. Afterward, they’ll troop back to Revolution for dessert, more Merlot and a meet-and-greet with the filmmaker, Rudy McClain.
McClain made Merlove in response to the movie Sideways, which kicked off the Pinot Noir craze a few years ago. (Remember Miles, who ranted, “I’m not drinking any f’ing Merlot!”)
Tickets are $24.95 for the public, $19.95 for wine club members. For more information, go to www.revolution-wines.com.
