Saying Au Revoir to Le Bilig Kitchen

1871

Marc and Monica Deconinck, owners of Le Bilig Kitchen in Auburn, served their last meal Saturday night. The couple and their six kids are moving to France at the end of August. Before they go, they’re holding a garage sale at the restaurant (11750 Atwood Road) this Friday and Saturday (Aug. 6 and 7) to sell off their restaurant equipment, including a six-burner stove, freezer, walk-in refrigerator, stainless-steel shelving and pots and pans. What’s next for the Deconincks? They’re not entirely sure. “We don’t have any jobs there yet,” says Monica. “We’re waiting to see what comes up.” They have a couple of business opportunities in the South of France: Marc’s brother is looking for a property for them in Provence, and the pair are interested in possibly opening a gite, which is “like a bed-and-breakfast,” says Monica. Before they go, Patrick Mulvaney will host a family-style meal in their honor Aug. 16 at Mulvaney’s Building & Loan. The four-course Provençal meal is $35. For reservations, call (916) 441-1771.
