The city’s foodies will be out in full force tomorrow at SactoMoFo – the Sacramento Mobile Food Festival – which will be held from noon to 6pm at Fremont Park (in downtown Sacramento, 15th and Q streets).
The event was created to celebrate the appeal, diversity and quality of urban mobile food vendors, and to raise awareness about a Sacramento city ordinance which makes it virtually impossible for gourmet food trucks to operate in our central city (despite the fact that these mobile businesses are enthusiastically embraced and supported in many large cities, including San Francisco, Portland, Los Angeles and New York City).
Over 20 vendors – including a number from San Francisco – will be on hand to sell their distinctive, tasty products. Local businesses include Fat Face (http://fruitmeetsfun.com), Mini Burger Truck (www.miniburgertruck.com) and Tacos la Piedad. Out-of-towners include Chairman Bao (www.facebook.com/ChairmanBao), who will be dishing up braised pork, sesame chicken, and crispy garlic tofu with miso greens in buns; and Spencer on the Go (http://spenceronthego.com), recently featured on the Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race,” who will be selling its famous escargot lollipops and braised lamb cheeks. The Bay Area’s Curry Up Now (www.curryupnow.com) will offer popular items like their “deconstructed samosa,” and a tikka masala burrito.
