She’s done it again: Sacramento blogger Kimberly Morales has moved on to the fifth round of the national Project Food Blog contest. The author of Poor Girl Eats Well found out today that she made the cut with her Round 4 blog. She’s now one of just 72 contestants left from a field that originally numbered almost 2,000. There will be six more challenges, winnowing down the pack until only one blogger is left. The winner gets $10,000. “I’m ecstatic,” said Morales, a 34-year-old midtown resident who’s been blogging about “how to eat ridiculously well on a minuscule budget” since August 2008. Her blog got national exposure in early 2009, when several of her recipes were published on CNN.com, and she saw a huge spike in traffic last year after she posted a recipe for mushroom potato soup, bringing to her blog 160,000 visitors a day for a week. “That recipe still brings me about 50 percent of my traffic,” said Morales. What’s next? By Sunday, she’s got to post her Round 5 blog. The challenge: Adapt a pizza recipe. To read Morales’ blog and vote for her, go to www.poorgirleatswell.com. Voting ends next Thursday.
