Occasionally I’ll get overtaken by a single-minded desire for a particular food. This past weekend I was smacked with pupusa lust – a feverish desire for the crusty, ultra-comforting El Salvadoran snacks. Pupusas – thick, hand-formed, disc-like corn tortillas stuffed with a variety of delectable fillings (most involving cheese), are cooked on a flat griddle and come out hot and ooey-gooey with flavor. At Flor De Michoacan in Natomas, the pupusas are served up with a side of feisty coleslaw and a big warm smile.
