Open Range Wine: A New (and Very Tasty) Local Quaff

1416

I recently discovered a delightfully drinkable new wine called Open Range Proprietary Red Blend, whose grapes were grown in the Capay Valley. The Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvèdre grapes crafted into this smooth, likeable blend were grown in a 24-acre vineyard at the Casey Flat Ranch (which also happens to be a working Longhorn cattle operation) in Guinda. The Proprietary Red is a great choice with burgers, grilled steaks or robust pasta dishes (it would be terrific with lasagna). Open Range also produces a Sauvignon Blanc.
