Oak Park To Get a Farmers Market

Starting next month, Oak Park will have its own weekly farmers market. The market, which will take place Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Broadway and 35th Street, will bring fresh fruits and vegetables to a neighborhood that’s long been considered a food desert because of its lack of grocery stores. It’s organized by NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center, a nonprofit that helps people find affordable housing. The market will run from May 15 to October 16 and will have 15 to 20 vendors, as well as live entertainment.
