Love Me Some Lip-Smacking Tomato Soup


We may have crept quietly into fall, but chef Patrick Mulvaney is still getting his hands on some spectacular, very-end-of-summer produce. An intensely flavored tomato soup I savored this week at his restaurant, Mulvaney’s Building & Loan, brought back sharp, summery memories of me as a little girl, plucking and devouring sun-warmed tomatoes in our weedy, overgrown backyard garden. Simply prepared, with just a touch of cream, the delicious soup was garnished with a drizzle of olive oil, a few shavings of Parmesan cheese, and a sprinkling of chives.
