Last weekend I visited Folsom’s beloved Lake Forest Café on a gloriously sunny morning. There was a 25-minute wait for a table (if you visit, be prepared to put your name on a list – it’s rare to get seated immediately), but I didn’t mind. I settled in a rocking chair on the homey, covered porch area, enjoying the spring breezes and watching over-ripe grapefruits suddenly fall from the tree out front and splat loudly to the ground.
The wait was worth it – we had a comforting breakfast with warm, attentive service. If you’re a first-timer to Lake Forest Café, don’t miss the creamy, sweet blintzes, the rustic potato pancakes (served with sautéed apples and sour cream), or the fabulous omelettes.
