Holiday Beer: Try Brewing Your Own

1467

It’s time to start seriously thinking about Christmas presents – especially for those hard-to-gift folks in your life. If you’re feeling creative, you still have time to brew up a batch of your very own beer for the holidays – this is one present that’s sure to thrill the sud-savvy adults in your life. At downtown’s Brew It Up!, neophyte brewers are carefully guided through the entire process, which yields 12.4 gallons of beer (132 12-ounce bottles) – which is why the brewery encourages a group of friends to take on the project together. According to Brew It Up’s website, the brewing takes about 3 hours, and the beer is ready to bottle and drink in 2 to 6 weeks – depending on what style you choose. And if your beer isn’t ready to guzzle by Christmas, you can always share it with family and friends for a New Year’s celebration. Styles include “reds and browns,” wheat beers, pale ales, bocks, pilsners and porters.
