We gleefully feasted on Cuban cuisine Sunday morning at the new Sol Cubano, located in North Highlands. From the lechon asado (roast pork marinated in a garlicky mojo criollo sauce) and greasy-yet-delicious platanos maduros fritos (fried sweet plantains) to the traditional Moros y Cristianos (Cuban rice and beans), the meal was flavorful, robust and darned satisfying. The owner’s quiet pride in his food and his small restaurant (only eight tables!) is evident, and customers are treated like royalty. Take the time to check out this charming new addition to Sacramento’s eclectic food scene.
