Like Greek food? Run to Petra, the newest restaurant addition along 16th street’s vibrant culinary corridor. We had a fabulous meal at Petra on Friday night, gorging on the kitchen’s lamb/beef and pork gyro meat, sliced deftly off vertical rotisseries; tasty charbroiled Greek sausages; tzatziki sauce (yogurt, cucumber and garlic dip); pillowy pita bread; and a raft of vegetarian nibbles, including tyropita (phyllo dough filled with feta cheese, then baked), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and delicious Greek olives. Portions were huge, and the staff was warm and helpful. This is a new restaurant to get excited about.
