I recently had an opportunity to try the new McCormick & Schmick’s in Roseville. Located in the Fountains shopping center, this handsome, wood-paneled seafood restaurant is a great addition to the Placer County dining scene. The sheer number of fish and shellfish items offered will make your head spin – I find it remarkable that one kitchen can crank out so many different dishes. The menu changes twice daily, so selections will vary, but fish you may encounter range from wild Sockeye salmon and Tilapia to Yellowfin tuna and wild Pacific Rockfish. Other seafood items include the very popular crab and bay shrimp “tater tots,” a mixed “steamer” dinner with clams and mussels, and a great selection of oysters. Notable features of this bustling restaurant are the gorgeous, old-fashioned wood bar, with its intriguing selection of classic cocktails (try The Pisco Sour, made with a Peruvian white grape brandy); and the cozy little private booths located in the back dining room (equipped with full-length drapes!) – perfect for a romantic meal with your sweetie.
