Fall Arrives at Local Restaurants


In the past week, local restaurants began trotting out their fall menus. Expect to find lots of squash and apples on your plate the next time you go out to eat. Here’s a look at some of the most autumnal-sounding seasonal dishes on Sacramento menus:

Taylor’s Kitchen: endive salad with apple brunoise and shaved comté; pumpkin chestnut ravioli with fried-sage brown butter sauce; grilled duck breast with cider-rum poached Gravenstein apples

Hot Italian: Gattuso pizza topped with pumpkin puree, smoked mozzarella, parsley and sage

Biba: Breaded turkey breast cutlet with Parmigiano mashed potatoes; housemade chestnut flour tagliatelle with chanterelles, oyster mushrooms, garlic and smoked Italian ham; Sardinian pasta dumplings with a lamb, sausage and tomato sauce

The Waterboy: Bitter-greens salad with crispy duck confit, walnuts, Apple Hill apples and blue cheese; roast pork tenderloin with glazed Brussels sprouts, bacon-braised endive, potato-apple gratin and lemon-thyme jus; Sonoma Liberty duck breast with Riverdog Tokyo turnips, applewood bacon, roasted fennel, squash and arugula
