Sacramento’s food scene benefits from a wide range of talented culinary artists, from cheesemakers and bakers to brewmasters and restaurant chefs. But the region also harbors a master butcher, Dirk Müller, who for years has been earnestly crafting a dizzying array of artisan meat products at his friendly little shop. And while you can find (excellent) bacon, sandwich meats and a raft of smoked meats at Morant’s, it’s Müller’s fabulous hand-made sausages that really make me swoon. From the delicate white bratwurst and lip-smacking Irish-style breakfast links to the popular (and snigger-inducing) Old Fashioned Wieners, Muller has a sausage for every occasion and palate.
