Capitol Cellars Expanding to Granite Bay

Capitol Cellars of Roseville will open a second store, in Granite Bay’s Quarry Ponds shopping center, toward the end of next month. Owner Marcus Graziano is scrambling to get his new wine store open in time for the holiday season.

The 2,200-square-foot space will sell bottled wines from around the world. It will also have a wine bar and will host wine tastings.

Why now, in the middle of a recession? “I’m a little crazy,” says Graziano, who test-marketed the store for two months this past summer. “We got so much response, I decided I couldn’t not do this.”

Capitol Cellars will have what Graziano calls a “symbiotic relationship” with the center’s restaurant tenants: Toast, Hawks and Pizza Antica. Wine bar customers can order food from any of the restaurants to be delivered to Capitol Cellars. They can also bring any wines they buy to the restaurants and won’t be charged a corkage fee.

The original Capitol Cellars, at 110 Diamond Creek Place, has been open for 22 years.
