I made the trek to Road Trip Bar & Grill on Friday, a personable eatery located smack-dab in the middle of Capay. Surrounded by rich, fertile agricultural lands, Road Trip serves up robust, generously-portioned fare that keeps local folks fueled up for a long day of work. The interior is sleekly rustic, featuring roomy wooden booths and knotty, weathered wood wall panels, and a quirky bar with colorful license plates embedded within it. The space is adorned with Budweiser posters, framed (and local) sports memorabilia and battered old road signs. Try the kitchen’s toothsome Roadside Ribs, glazed with a sweet root beer barbecue sauce; and the ebulliently meaty “Crazy Good Chili,” which, if you request it, comes “loaded” with a generous sprinkling of chopped red onions and grated cheddar cheese. It took me 45 minutes to get to Road Trip Bar & Grill from downtown Sacramento, but I’ll definitely be back.
