It was a gloomy-grey Sunday morning, but a trip to the farmers’ market soon brightened up my weekend. Despite the weather, the place was teeming with customers and piles of produce – from deep orange persimmons and teeny Bosc pears to lumpy heads of cauliflower and crisp carrots, the market was a sheer explosion of color and activity. I loaded up my bag with apples, citrus (the blood oranges were gorgeous and sweet), feathery bunches of greens and a sticky bottle of fresh sage honey and returned home frisky and ready to cook.
