My beautiful companion and I have been on a bit of a midcentury-modern kick lately. Scouring Craigslist, antiques fairs and garage sales has been a somewhat of a weekend hobby. It was, therefore, quite a hallelujah moment when we stumbled upon, and stood open-mouthed in the doorway of, Scout Living.
The newish (opened in June) antique and design store is an absolute trove of fun, funky, slick, modern and above all pristine material from the ’50s through the ’70s. Paintings, books, furniture, clothing, purses, tableware and bric-a-brac are all on display in a beautifully put together space.
If you have some time while hanging around the general midtown area, I’d highly recommend stopping in.
Scout Living is at 1215 18th St. (at Capitol); 594-7971, scoutliving.com. More information on the store can be found in the September 2011 issue of Sacramento magazine, on pages 29 and 30.
