Usher in a New Season With El Dorado County’s Madroña Chardonnay

Sacramento summer is morphing gracefully into fall, affording us with long, golden afternoons. What better way to celebrate the coming of the new season than by inviting some friends over, pulling up the patio chairs, and savoring our lovely weather with a glass or two of locally crafted wine? I recently had the opportunity to savor a few glasses of 2012 Madroña Chardonnay, produced in nearby Camino in El Dorado County – and it’s a perfect candidate for late-afternoon wine gatherings. Offering lush oak- and honey-kissed flavors of ripe pear and apple, the wine has a surprisingly crisp and clean finish, and its lingering, delicate, buttery-roasted nut fruit flavors on the palate made me eager to come back for more.
