Try It: Tucos Wine Market & Café

3530

I had the pleasure of dining at teeny Tucos this week, one of Davis’ most delightful restaurants. The wide-ranging, global menu always fascinates me, and it’s difficult to choose between so many interesting and unique dishes. We settled on an old fave, the bacon-wrapped Medjool dates, served warm and stuffed with soft chèvre cheese and a crisp apple slice; then moved into a Latin-inspired lunch of rustic arepas (a palm-sized flat cornmeal pastry crammed full of flavorful shredded beef); and a dreamy, light artichoke heart and cheese enchilada. We sat outside, soaked in the gorgeous weather, and made a list of menu items we want to try on our next visit – they include the black truffle and sweet potato tamales and a wild cod fish fry sandwich.
