With the California State Fair canceled this summer due to the pandemic, local restaurateur Bobbin Mulvaney was feeling down about missing her favorite fair foods, particularly the potato tornado—a deep-fried spiral-cut potato on a stick. So she and her husband/business partner, Patrick Mulvaney, came up with a dinner menu of fair-inspired goodies that will be available for order and pickup this Saturday (July 18) at Mulvaney’s B&L. The meal includes three appetizers (a deep-fried chicken wing that Patrick jokingly dubbed “the world’s smallest turkey leg,” a mini corn dog and a reuben egg roll on a stick), heirloom green bean and cucumber salad, Mexican corn on the cob, smoked tri-tip with cowboy beans and cornbread, a slice of watermelon and a trio of sweets (caramel corn, chocolate-dipped Oreos and funnel cake with peach preserves). The package is $42 per person, plus an additional $10 if you want to add on a cocktail (watermelon margarita or hurricane). Orders must be in by 8 p.m. Friday. Pickup is between 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday. To order, call (916) 441-6022.
