Miraflores Winery in Placerville is teaming up with chefs to produce food-and-wine lunches every Saturday and Sunday this month.
The lineup includes Carolyn Kumpe, owner of Logtown Social Club, doing a Southern menu Sept. 12–13; Aimal Formoli, former owner of Formoli’s Bistro, doing an Italian summer menu Sept. 19–20; and private chef Carl Williams doing a circus menu Sept. 26–27. Each course will be accompanied by Miraflores wines.
Kumpe’s menu will feature crab cakes with tomatillo remoulade; hand-cut slaw with poppyseed dressing; buttermilk fried chicken with Southern biscuits; and Key lime pie. Formoli will serve grilled tomato soup with herbed crostini; roasted pepper and grilled endive salad with bacon vinaigrette; bucatini Bolognese; and tiramisu. Williams is preparing cotton candy with pork belly; buttered corn bisque; smoked chicken funnel cake tostada; and caramel apple pie with cheddar cheese and vanilla bean ice cream.
