Ginger Elizabeth Patisserie, a boutique bakery from the owner of Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates, opened this week.
The new store is at 2413 J St. It carries freshly baked croissants, muffins, scones, cookies, individual desserts such as pots de crème and gateau slices, along with coffee, espresso and hot chocolate. The store also offers artisanal chocolates, French macarons, jarred sauces and hot chocolate mixes from Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates on L Street.
Currently, store hours are 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Wednesday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday. Hours will expand over time.
Owner Ginger Elizabeth Hahn, a chocolatier with a national reputation, recently closed her San Francisco shop because the commute was getting to her during the pandemic. She repurposed some of the furniture and fixtures from that store in the new patisserie.
The shop shares a building with Babes, a gluten-free doughnut and vegan ice cream shop from the owners of Pushkin’s Bakery, and Ro Sham Beaux, a natural wine bar (not yet open) from the people behind de Vere’s Irish Pub. The building offers both sidewalk seating and some communal indoor seating.
