Get a Piece of the Pie

1963

Figuring there couldn’t be anything much more fun than eating pie and celebrating the arts, veteran singer/songwriter Brother Dan Palmer has put together a monthly event at Luna’s Cafe to do just that.
With pies purchased from the New Roma Bakery and a changing roster of performers, Brother Dan’s Pie Party had its debut in February and continues as a first Tuesday event. The next is scheduled for June 7 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Palmer wasn’t sure what kind of pie would be served in June, nor did he have a complete schedule of performers when we spoke via phone. But he did say this: His aim is to feature artists from virtually all genres. “We’ve had an author, a painter/cartoonist, a spoken-word artist and a videographer,” says Palmer, who also performs at the events. “We try and bring all the arts together. I think there are things that are common to the creative process for all artists.”
So, why a pie party?
“I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like pie,” says Palmer. “Do you?”
