For Damion Price, the passion for cooking started when he was 8 years old, after his mom said the barbecue chicken he made her was the best she ever had.
After several years of hard work, experience, exposure to efficient kitchens and attending culinary school, Price started DP’s Taste of Heaven Catering & More in 2016. This family business offers catering, public and private chef services, meal prepping, brown box lunches and more to the greater Sacramento area.
Seafood, soul food and barbecue are staples in his menu. Alongside his classic dishes of lobster tails, stuffed salmon and crab boils, one can find two unique, mouthwatering items: gumbo fries and “dirty shmack n cheese.”
Imagine this: Crispy seasoned garlic parmesan fries topped with cheese, loaded with Cajun seafood and chicken gumbo, and topped again with a homemade “Fuzhion sauce.” The Cajun shmack is just one of three loaded pastas—it’s got sausage and shrimp, while the other two are packed with steak and peppers, and buffalo chicken wings.
Taste of Heaven also has a vegan and vegetarian menu and can make all dishes fit any dietary restriction with no problem.
Since the pandemic and closure of most restaurants, people have come to Price to get fine cuisine delivered right to their doorstep. This would be the perfect business to hire for holiday catering.
“It’s not like work. It’s like therapy for me. Seeing the smiles and giving back through food,” says Price.
