What Are We Doing? We're Working Out, People

2518

What are people going and doing these first few days into a new decade? They’re at the gym!!! Is it just me, or is the weight loss and exercise craze following in the wake of New Year’s resolutions so ever-present right now? I guess it’s common for the first week into any new year. But stories on the news?! Yesterday, My58 had a reporter interviewing a family in a gym in Elk Grove at 6:30 a.m. Cute, but when I took a run past my own gym (Anytime Fitness on Folsom Blvd. at 65th street, pictured here) at 7:30 a.m., it was more packed than ever. People sweating and looking strained, exerting effort for self improvement–well, I can’t say I’m surprised by any of it. I’m right there, too.

OK Sacramentans, we’ll beat this holiday poundage, but let’s be sensible about it. What does that mean for me? Um, trying to get 10,000 steps in a day. Wearing a pedometer and walking around instead of sitting at my desk and then sitting on the couch. And no more candy.   🙁

What does it mean for you? Share some tips with fellow readers in the comments section. And apologies for the overkill.

PS – Dr. Oz says the fastest way to get on this “lose the holiday weight” train quickly (not a long term solution) is: don’t eat anything white. Hear his whole spiel here.
