Walk, Then Rock

Whatcha doing this Memorial Day weekend? If you’re still looking for plans, consider taking part the second annual Walk ’N Rock for Kids event this Sunday. Start the morning with a 5K walk that begins and ends at Raley Field. Enjoy bands on the route as you cover the 3.1 miles. Then return to Raley Field for food, beverages, kids’ activities and more. Your $25 registration fee will go to the children’s charity you register in support of. Or, walk for Walk ‘N Rock for Kids, and your donations will be split among Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento, Cristo Rey High School, Keaton Raphael Memorial, Okizu, People Reaching Out, River Cats Foundation and Wind Youth Services. Reconvene at Raley Field later that evening for a benefit concert featuring Heart and Sammy Hagar. Proceeds from the concert benefit the above-named charities. The walk starts at 8 a.m.; the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, log onto walknrock.org.
