Urban Cow Runner’s Symposium

Whether you’re running this weekend’s Urban Cow Half Marathon (which includes a half marathon relay and 5K run and walk) or just enjoy the sport, you might consider checking out the 2nd Annual Urban Cow Runner’s Symposium taking place tomorrow night at Lucca Restaurant and Bar at 1615 J St. A $25 entry fee gets you appetizers, beer and wine as well as a panel of a half-dozen runners talking about the local running scene. Panelists include Rich Hanna, runner as well as race manager of Urban Cow, Tim Twietmeyer, five-time winner of the 100-mile Western States Endurance Run, and Rick Kushman and Sam McManis, Sacramento Bee writers—and avid runners. You can’t beat this panel—figuratively, and perhaps literally, too—but I suggest calling Lucca beforehand at (916) 669-5300; I understand tickets sold out last year. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.; panel discussion starts at 7 p.m.
