Attention, ladies: Time is running out to sign up for the Women’s Fitness Festival, presented by Fleet Feet Sports. The 5K run and walk—which takes place Sunday, June 6—will be capped at 3,500 entrants. The event takes place at the State Capitol, with runners taking off at 8 a.m. followed by run/walkers and walkers at 8:40 a.m. Live music, a DJ, spa giveaways, massages, breakfast and more makes getting up early on a Sunday evermore enticing. In addition, Kaiser Permanente will be on hand offering body fat composition testing and bone density screening. (We admit, not as enticing as the massages and breakfast, but good info to have nonetheless.) Oh, and think the only people who will get prizes will be the gazelles? Not here. More than two dozen prizes will be awarded randomly to participants in the 8:40 a.m. starting group. Still not sold? Well . . . the event benefits Women Escaping a Violent Environment, which aids victims of and works to put an end to domestic violence and sexual assault.
