If you’re anywhere near Cal Expo this Saturday, you’ll probably see a sea of pink, as thousands of walkers and runners take part in the 15th annual Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure. The event raises funds—mostly through donations; the registration fees help cover the operation of the event and the shirts—for breast cancer research as well as honors survivors and those who have lost their battle with the disease. The 5K walk/run starts and ends at Cal Expo (1600 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento). Registration runs $35 to $40, with fees going up by $5 on race day. For more information, including a special race for the little ones as well as information about how you can “Sleep for the Cure,” log on to komensacramento.org.
