On The Bike to Folsom's Castle Park

In Folsom, behind the Raley’s at Blue Ravine and East Natoma, a labyrinth of biking and walking trails runs through yellow grassy fields to several area parks. My daughters and I pick up the trail by Raley’s and ride past Mexquite Mexican Restaurant (www.mexquite.com), then some backyards; across a couple wooden bridges, past the weird lookout—steps built in the middle of nowhere that go up to an observation point that looks out toward El Dorado Hills. We pedal by a tot lot and out to a wide-open space that’s full of flowers and birds and bugs and, occasionally, bunnies—watch your wheel! After a 20-minute ride, we reach our destination: Castle Park in Lexington Hills, because even a 13-year-old isn’t too sophisticated to play on the tire swing with her little sister. On the way home, we stop in at Big Spoon (www.bigspoon yogurt.com) so the girls can get towering heaps of frozen yogurt—vanilla topped with sour gummy creatures.
