Great Sierra River Cleanup

If you like the water and don’t mind a little ick factor, you can greatly help our precious waterways by taking part in the Great Sierra River Cleanup tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 25. The event is in partnership with the California Coastal Cleanup Day. Last year, more than 3,500 volunteers scoured 22 counties and 500 river miles to retrieve everything from cigarette butts to appliances from the rivers and streams that supply California with 65 percent of its water.
