Early this morning, dozens of Sacramentans were out on the streets of downtown and midtown cleaning up after last night’s vandalism. Bobbin Mulvaney, co-owner of Mulvaney’s B&L, was sweeping up broken glass outside the Hyatt hotel. Her own restaurant escaped unscathed. But a number of restaurants and other businesses in the immediate vicinity of Mulvaney’s did not, including Aioli Bodega Espanola, The Rind, 58 Degrees & Holding Co., Zocalo and Yogurtagogo. Aioli owner Aziz Bellarbi-Salah was outside his restaurant this morning surveying the scene. “Day 9 of dining in,” he said ruefully. “Just another punch in the face.” According to Bellarbi-Salah, security cameras caught video of the people, who drove up in a car, smashed in the door and took a cash register with the weekend’s receipts and “a bunch of alcohol.” He vowed to reopen today. “The best way people can show support,” he said, “is to come to dinner.”
