After two decades of following his dream, Executive Chef Deneb Williams arrived at The Firehouse in the fall of 2007. With a wealth of culinary expertise, and a passion for seasonal cooking, Chef Deneb takes pride in carefully preparing each dish with an emphasis on handcrafted, local and sustainably farmed ingredients. The Firehouse provides a fresh, innovative twist on the dining experience. The food they serve has earned praise for its “never-compromise” approach, delivering inventive cuisine as well as a thoroughly modern interpretation of the classics. Chef Deneb loves to study food from all around the world, and subsequently, the menu has a global flair. He is constantly creating dishes that utilize local ingredients that are internationally inspired. The Firehouse offers one of the nation’s top wine lists and is revered for their ability to pair a wine perfectly with any dish. Chef Deneb believes that food and wine are gastronomical partners – and highlights this at their famous Winemaker Dinners. “One cannot truly shine without the other. When you taste a dish that is crafted specifically to be enjoyed with a particular wine, both become elevated beyond their singular potential. For more than 41 years, Biba Caggiano has been involved with Italian food. Biba’s desire when she opened her namesake restaurant, Biba, in 1986 was to share the flavors of her native Emilia-Romagna with Sacramento. She has become an internationally recognized chef, TV host and author. Her most recently released ninth cookbook is “Spaghetti Sauces.” Her syndicated cooking show “Biba’s Italian Kitchen”, on TLC and Discovery Channel, still appears in various markets. She has also celebrated guest appearances on Food Network Canada and “The Martha Stewart Show”. Lately she has taken more time away from the daily writing to enjoy life with her six grandchildren, who were the inspiration for her most recent cookbook. Biba’s constant research allows her to serve dishes such as Butternut Squash Tortelli, Ossobuco alla Milanese and Lasagne alla Bolognese. Biba’s head chef Steve Toso’s creative passion for food, commitment to using local farms, and his eagerness to present only the best has allowed Biba Restaurant to bring that quality to its diners.

Steve’s training over the years has come from being employed at John Ash in Santa Rosa, Madrona Manor in Healdsburg and Santi Ristorante in Geyserville. “Biba’s knowledge of Italian cuisine keeps me inspired daily in my passion for Italian cooking”, says Steve Toso.

Executive Chef Adam Pechal has taken the kitchens at Crawdads on the River and Pour House by storm. After graduating at the top of his class from Culinary Institute of America in New York, he worked for some of the country’s top chefs and owned local highly acclaimed restaurants Tuli Bistro and Restaurant Thir13en. Because of his passion and commitment to locally sourced ingredients, along with his new culinary team, he aims to offer Sacramento a dining experience they won’t soon forget. Pechal is eager to collaborate with Kevin Bowes at Crawdads and Lauren McKay at Pour House. Bowes will bring his 12+ years of chef experience, including Executive Sous Chef at Delta King and Executive Chef at Hornblower, back on the water at Crawdads. Having worked with many innovative restaurants in the area, such as Plates Cafe and Catering, and Mulvaney’s B&L, McKay will bring her enthusiasm to Pour House to chop, sauté and grill alongside Pechal. Collectively, these chefs are ready to show Sacramento what they’re made of!
