You might know Pietro Mascagni’s name from his popular opera “Cavalaria Rusticana,” but there’s so much more to this prolific composer. Hear what else he has to offer when Capitol Opera Sacramento presents “The Magnificence of Mascagni” on Saturday, March 21 at 2 and 8 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral in midtown.
Act One will feature Mascagni’s one-act “Zanetto” and a double dose of performers—the role of Sylvia will be sung by sopranos Ava DeLara and Katie Kilgore and the role of Zanetto will be sung by mezzo-sopranos Anna Yelizarova and Glena Clark Jue. Act Two will feature other Mascagni gems like arias and duets from “L’amico Fritz,” “Parisina,” “Iris,” “Kyoto,” and, of course, “Cavalaria Rusticana,” which contains the famous Easter Hymn.
