Strauss Festival of Elk Grove

2736

The Strauss Festival of Elk Grove is one of those great events that people seem to either know about and attend each year or have never heard about. It’s celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

The festival takes place over the course of four July evenings—July 26-29 this year—in Elk Grove Regional Park. A live orchestra performs the music of the family of Johann Strauss as beautifully costumed dancers “tell” a story via waltz and polka.

If you have never been, and you enjoy good music and dancing, I encourage you to go. Start the evening off by enjoying a picnic dinner; the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and concludes around 10 p.m. with fireworks. The evening makes for a great date night, but works just as easily as a family night out. The event is free, but there is a $10 charge for parking.
