Even though St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, that won’t stop Sacramentans from celebrating the Irish holiday. Whether eating corned beef and cabbage for dinner or heading out on the town for some green beer, there are plenty of ways to show your love for the Emerald Isle.
On Thursday at 8 a.m., De Vere’s is hosting its St. Pat’s Pub Party 2011. Being described as “the ultimate authentic Irish experience,” the party includes Irish coffees at the start, corned beef and cabbage at 11 a.m., and lots of live Irish entertainment late into the night. Tickets are on sale for $10 (plus a $1.24 fee) through March 15—or until they sell out!
Also on St. Patrick’s Day is De Vere’s Party in the Park, held at Cesar Chavez Plaza at 10th and J streets. The “doors” open at 10 a.m., and dancing and music begin an hour later. Tickets cost $20 in advance (plus a fee) and $25 at the event, which will also feature food from local restaurants and signature Irish drinks. The party ends with U2 tribute band Zoo Station, which leaves the stage at 10 p.m.
