Spend MLK Day With the Sacramento Day Trippers

Join the Sacramento Day Trippers (a 2011 Best of Sacramento Editors’ pick) on Monday for MLK Day. Begin the day by taking part in the March for the Dream celebration. Fellow Day Trippers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Chipotle on Freeport Boulevard and Sutterville Road, and join the March to the Sacramento Convention Center, where you’ll have a couple of hours to enjoy various activities. Then, hop on a shuttle for an afternoon of smooth jazz at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. On the bill for the afternoon: Tony Elder & Westbound Groove, Cynthia Douglas and DJ Rock Bottom.
Want to enjoy festivities closer to home? The Day Trippers are also hosting a shuttle to the Crocker Art Museum. Click here to see the multitude of activities going on at the museum in honor of MLK Day, including a screening of the PBS documentary Not in our Town: Light in the Darkness.
Shuttle tickets for the Old Sugar Mill and the Crocker Art Museum are $30.  For tickets, click here. (The website also provides information on taking Light Rail from the Convention Center to the meeting location for the March.) For more info, call (916) 443-8741.
Want to forgo the Old Sugar Mill and the Crocker, but just want to march with a fun group of people? Join in! It’s free!
